News from Apr 13, 2023

Professor Dr. Bruno Castanho Silva has joined the Institute of Sociology as the new Assistant Professor for Methods of Empirical Social Research. We are delighted to welcome him on behalf of the entire team and look very much forward to have him contributing to the Institute’s research and teaching agenda in the future.

Bruno Castanho Silva’s research agenda combines on the one hand quantitative methods, more specifically causal inference, machine learning, and structural equation modeling. On the other hand, he works on populism in comparative perspective and social media in politics.

In the coming summer semester, he offers the specialization seminar “Populism: How to Study a Contested Concept” in the master’s program “Sociology – European Societies”.
