The successful applicant will assume responsibilities in research and teaching in empirical social science research methods. The professor will divide his/her time equally between the Institute of Sociology and the Otto-Suhr-Institute of Political Science with their professorship serving as a point of contact between the two institutes.
Appointment requirements are governed byArticle 102a of the Berlin Higher Education Act (Berliner Hochschulgesetz – BerlHG).
Successful candidates should hold an outstanding doctorate in sociology or political science and demonstrate excellent knowledge of quantitative methods in empirical social science research, especially in relation to causal analysis and experimental procedures. Their research focus is expected to relate to sociology and political science.
Applicants must have an outstanding research record with international visibility and publications in top-ranked academic journals. They should be able to demonstrate a record of successful teaching at university level, with the ability to teach in English. They should also have experience with projects financed through third-party funding.
