Based on an article on ‘Plantation Futures’ by Katherine McKittrick (2013), this lecture discusses the current situation of the war at the Chad/Sudan border. On the basis of her book ‘Lifeworlds in Crisis. Making Refugees in the Chad-Sudan Borderlands’, published in 2024, Andrea Behrends looks at and analyses how people in this crisis situation use their knowledge to ensure their survival without having to move into distant refugee camps.
