Dissertation: ‚Schäm Dich, aber zeige niemals Deine Wut! - Zur Sozialisation und Entwicklung von Emotionen bei Minangkabau-Kindern in Westsumatra‘

Among the Minangkakabau malu (shame) is omnipresent, anticipated and positiv evaluated in daily social encounters, while marah (anger) is disapproved and has to be repressed towards others. How is culture-specific knowledge of emotions transferred and aquired? To trace the cultural ways of emotional transmission and development emotion-episodes of different Minang-children are analysed to illuminate age-, gender- and context- related dynamics of developmental processes in the realm of socialization.
