Every spring the EJF holds the traditional Winfried-Fest-Lecture, a special Jour-fixe in the context of the European Journalism-Fellowships programme. In the context of this event we commemorate the publicist Winfried Fest who was a member of the founding group of the European Journalism-Fellowships.
This year’s New Year reception took place on Wednesday, 07 February 2018 in the Conference Center of the Seminaris CampusHotel.
After a solemn greeting by Prof. Dr. Görke, scientific director of the European Journalism-Fellowships and Prof. Dr. Beck, director of the Journalism college, the guests of the evening welcomed the fest speaker.
This year’s fest speech was presented by Dr. Christian Humborg, member of the board of trustees of CORRECTIV. He spoke about the topic “Between start and downfall- the media in between platform capitalism”.
During the speech the fellows and guets got an impression of the media’s crucial role in the progressive development of dominating online platforms as well as the media’s future and upcoming challenges within platform capitalism.
The evening came to an end with the traditional New Year's banquet where the fellows came to talk to this year's speaker and to the other guests in a festive atmosphere.
