Dr Mathis Lohaus will be replacing Prof. Dr Diana Panke at the Centre for International Relations and Prof. Dr Tanja A. Börzel at the Centre for European Integration at the Otto Suhr Institute during the 2025/2026 winter semester.

Dr Lohaus previously served as acting professor (substitute professor) for International Relations at the Department of Political Science at Leibniz University Hannover. He is also actively involved in two projects funded by the German Research Foundation (DFG): the "TRANSNORMS" project and the Global Pathways "Global Pathways" project.

His academic work focuses in particular on the following topics:

-        International organisations and regionalism

-        Norm and policy diffusion

-        Politics of anti-corruptions

-        Global international relations

-        Sociology of science

-        Quantitative and qualitative research methods

Dr Lohaus enriches the Otto Suhr Institute's curriculum with four courses in which he discusses topics such as the EU's foreign policy, climate politics and international cooperation, regional and international efforts against corruption, and regional and global dynamics in international relations with students.
