Mit der Agenda 2030 haben die Vereinten Nationen weitreichende Ziele für eine nachhaltige Entwicklung verabschiedet, die sogenannten „Sustainable Development Goals“ (SDGs). Sie sollen Entwicklungs- und Umweltagenda verbinden. Vorlesungsreihe und Sammelband konzentrieren sich auf die daraus entstehenden politischen Spannungen und Synergien in zentralen Feldern der globalen Umweltpolitik, angefangen bei der Klimapolitik über Wachstumskritik und Öko-Feminismus bis hin zur Rolle von Städten bei der Implementation nachhaltiger Entwicklung. International renommierter Wissenschaftler:innen, wie Lyla Mehta, Institute of Development Studies at the University of Sussex, und Philipp Pattberg, Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam, führen in die unterschiedlichen Felder ein. Interviews der Studierenden mit ihnen wurden in gekürzter Form mit in den Band aufgenommen. Für dieses Lehrprojekt wurde Lena Partzsch mit dem Lehrpreis 2023 der Deutschen Vereinigung für Politikwissenschaft (DVPW) ausgezeichnet.
